Hello, I'm Assaf Ezra, an artist and art lecturer born in 1983 in Israel.

Series of drawings "Time That Never Happened" is the central body of my work in recent years. The drawings are monochromatic with a single touch of color.

The basis of the works stems from yearning for a bygone reality, a simple and innocent nostalgia in the pre-technological era before the digital space and the flashing lights—a time when everyone was innocent and simple, a time that never happened.

The archive of old photographs in my possession, along with additional archives from around the world, provides me with an infinite variety of characters that I incorporate into my works.

The detailed line (relatively) of the drawing contradicts the abstract agreement of facial features. The detailed line of the body allows me to describe a style of clothing or a scenario that represents the small time, the time counted in decades.

The abstract form of the faces, composed of an especially limited number of lines and points, allows me to portray the large time, the countless time where decades do not exist, and there is no one personality for each character.

The red dot is the burst of life in every work. It is the centerpiece that adds liveliness to the character's cheeks, arousing passion in her while, at the same time, introducing restraint.
